A-level tasks 21/22 statement of intent/shot list
Production tasks:
1. Planning my music video, the artist, the song and images.
2. Study a typical band/artists shots/poses and aesthetics and try and recreate one of the images.
3. Film a short drama (no more than one minute) all based within one room using a wide range of shots, angles and creative use of transitions.
In the production tasks I did the what a surprise video about surprising my friend about going on a holiday. This 30 second video task helped me practice my editing and filming skills ready for my final music video. I also planned my music video with the artist and song choice.
A-level NEA music video-
A music video is a short film, of variable length that integrates a song or album with imagery that is produced for promotional or artistic purposes.
Song: Out Out by Joel Corry x Jax Jones.
Product 1:
The Nea brief is Love and my music video will include that by showing the love for getting ready to go out and socialise as we've not been able to do that in so long due to the covid pandemic. In the first clip it will show me sat on my bed, looking sad and bored, wanting to go out. This straight away gets the audience feeling like they can relate and show empathy towards me as we may have been through similar things due to lockdown. In addition to this, a lot of young adults will be able to relate to this and feel emotionally engaged because no one had been able to go out and socialise with new people or there friends until the lock down restrictions were lifted.
In my music video we will see dance and electronic genres as that is what the song Out Out fits into. This will be targeted at a young adult market audience of 16-25 year old's. I will use multiple locations of different rooms that will be in my house such as my bedroom and the kitchen using a wide range of shots such as a close up shot, tracking shot, shot distances, angles etc to fit into the requirements of the brief. However, challenges I may face when making this video is not being able to film because of the lockdown restrictions or having to isolate. Due to covid no one has really been able to go out and see there friends so this music video will show the relief there is to now be able to do that and the target audience will understand how that feels. Therefore, the audience can show empathy towards the artist as they have been through the same thing. My target audience is aimed at a younger audience between 17 and 25 which fits in nicely with the idea of my music video because all we want to be able to do is socialize with friends and family but because of the recent pandemic we have been limited to be able to do these things. At the start of my music video there is quite a dull colour shown to set the type of mood that I am trying to get the audience to feel. However, as the music video goes on the lighting gets brighter and the mood lifts a lot more. This is because it shows that you can start to go out again and finally socialize with your friends after so long.
Product 2:
On my website I intended to promote my band to ages 17-25 as I feel like that age of an audience can relate to what I am showing the most.
Organizational tasks I will do to achieve this is a shot list, planning each different shot of my music video and planning who will be in my music video and how will they fit in with the brief. The background colour of my website is quite bright colours as I feel like that fits into my brief quite nicely. I have two working tabs in my website which is the home page and the tour page. On the home page I have a single track cover with an image of me and my friend that I feel fits in quite well with the theme of my music video and website. There is also options on this album to but or stream from a multitude of sites such as Apple Music and Spotify, demonstrating an understanding of the necessity to market a band's product on a range of platforms. On the tour page I have two tour dates that are shown, one in Manchester and one in Leeds. When you click on buy tickets it takes you directly to Ticketmaster which is easy for the people viewing my website. The layout for the whole of my website is quite bright throughout which draws more attention to the fans when viewing the website and it fits into the brief of my website and music video. In addition to this, there will be information about forthcoming tour dates which gives the visitor more options and along with a clearly linked page to click to buy the tour tickets. On the home page there is also a contact link of where you can put in your name and email to contact the team. Media language will be used throughout the website to fit into the love brief and represent my artist as that type of genre.
